Dr. Brazer is board certified in Internal Medicine
and Gastroenterology. He graduated from Case Western Reserve School of
Medicine in 1981 where he was elected to the AOA in 1980. Dr. Brazer
completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology
fellowship at Duke University Medical Center and was Chief Resident in
Medicine in 1987-88. He was Clinical Director and Associate Chief of
the Division of Gastroenterology, Duke University Medical Center before
entering private practice in 2002. He has published over 50 journal
articles and book chapters. He has been chosen one of “America’s Top
Doctors” the past six years by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. He is a
member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American
College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Melissa Rich, MD, MPH
Dr. Rich received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Rich and her family moved to Chapel Hill in 2000. She received her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree and a Certificate in Health Outcomes and Quality of Care from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while serving on the clinical faculty there. Dr. Rich helped to author a publication that assisted the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force in evaluating new evidence on the effectiveness of different colorectal cancer screening methods. Dr. Rich joined Regional Gastroenterology in 2002. She is Board Certified in gastroenterology and is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
William V. Singletary, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Singletary, Jr. is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has been practicing for 27 years. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Duke University and was graduated from the Duke School of Medicine in 1975. He completed both his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Duke and then joined Durham Internal Medicine Associates. Dr. Singletary was President of the practice from 1995-2006. He is active in clinical trials and served as Chairperson of the Duke University Health System/Durham Regional Hospital Institutional Review Board from 1990-2006. The Consumers’ Research Council of America named him as one of “America’s Top Physicians.” He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Steven C. Solik, M.D.
Dr. Solik is a native of Flint, MI. He is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He received his medical degree from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. He did his residency at Loyola University in Chicago and his gastroenterology fellowship at Rush St. Luke’s Presbyterian Hospital, also in Chicago. Dr. Solik is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Solik feels fortunate to be in a field of medicine in which he can impact people’s lives by preventing colon cancer. He is particularly interested in gastroesophageal reflux disease and in genetic testing for families with colon cancer.
Marybeth Spanarkel, M.D.
Dr. Spanarkel has practiced clinical gastroenterology in Durham for almost 20 years. A native of Jersey City, NJ, she was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. She attended medical school at Duke University, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Spanarkel did her internship and residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and her fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health, Digestive Disease Branch, and the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She is listed in the “Top Doctors in America”, a winner of the Duke Family Practice Community Teaching Award, and a member of the Duke Alumni Career Center. Dr. Spanarkel is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and is a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterologists.
David A. Tendler, M.D.
Dr. Tendler is board certified in the fields of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a 1993 graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, where he served as class president and was named a Farr Scholar for "superior performance… leadership, integrity and intellectual honesty in pursuit of medical knowledge at Yale.” Dr. Tendler completed both his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. In 1999, Dr. Tendler joined the gastroenterology faculty at Duke University Medical Center and was honored in 2003 with the Paul G. Killenberg Fellow Teaching Award in Gastroenterology. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. He was named one of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterology Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
John Lytle, RN
John Lytle, RN is the manager of Triangle Endoscopy Center, LLC. Mr. Lytle received his degree in nursing 1998. He has had broad nursing experience, including the last 10 years specializing in gastrointestinal endoscopy. During this time, he has worked at Duke University Medical Center and then at Gaston Memorial Hospital, where he served as the nurse manager for the endoscopy/bronchoscopy unit for the past seven years. There he helped to build and supervise a very successful endoscopy unit prior to coming to Triangle Endoscopy Center, LLC, where he has been instrumental in the development and operations of the facility. Mr. Lytle has surrounded himself with a staff whose focus is GI endoscopy, ensuring the safe and efficient care of all patients treated at Triangle Endoscopy Center, LLC.
